藉由污水截流改善水質，並以三面拆除之混凝土施作複式斷面固床工並回填石籠，開挖緩坡土方交換回填既有護岸，落實透水化、蜿蜒化、緩坡化的同時達成現地土石方平衡，降低環境衝擊。
本次計畫針對豐原大道八段(7K+207)~軟埤二號橋(7K+890)區段進行既有設施、植栽之改善與加強，並延續水環境連貫性且提升水質及環境硬體。
自然景觀以「花原野溪」為核心理念，在水質改善及近自然河川治理基礎上，積極營造不同的水域型態；遊憩空間景觀延續花博「水岸花都、遊園生活」的理念，縫補、延伸水岸動線，創造多元親水環境。
保留花博園區既有的親水階梯、懸挑平台，以現有動線為基礎安排親水小徑、自然跨石、低水平台，並以岸邊緩流、淺瀨、深潭等，創造多樣的溪流生物棲息機會；利用河道重新整治的契機，順勢移除外來入侵植被，在平緩的砌石護岸上復育原生溪濱及誘蝶植栽，銜接現有花都意象，重塑「豐葦之原」的在地水岸記憶。
